"Animals have always meant a lot to me. I grew up riding horses and showing everything from ducks and geese to cattle and sheep at county fairs. I got my first dog, a cocker spaniel named Tinker, as a present from my grandfather for my fourth birthday. Some of my first memories are of holding her as a wiggly, cuddly puppy. I knew instantly that I wanted a lifetime of helping animals."

"Growing up around farm animals and participating in 4-H as a youth helped lead me to my profession. As a young person, I would continually find stray dogs and, to my mother's dismay, bring them home and attempt to add them to our family. For me, veterinary medicine is not just a job; It is a way of life. Each day is filled with challenges and triumph, with personal satisfaction and joy."
